It was hard not to feel for Toyota Gazoo Racing and the No. 5 team of Sebastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima Sunday morning as the 84th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans came to its stunning conclusion.

Looking to become the first Japanese manufacturer to win the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans since Mazda’s lone triumph in 1991, Toyota Gazoo Racing continues to dominate the annual endurance classic, holding the top two overall positions in the running order at the 18-hour benchmark of the twice-around-the-clock event.

Just as they did at the one-quarter mark, Kamui Kobayashi and Toyota Gazoo Racing found themselves in command at the 12 hour benchmark of the 84th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

As the sun begins to set in France and the 84th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans pushing forward at full song, a pit stop and driver change paved the way for Kamui Kobayashi and Toyota to take the race lead at the six hour mark of the international endurance classic.
