BRISTOL, Tenn. — Daniel Suarez paced the final practice session for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Bristol Motor Speedway on Wednesday, setting a mark that puts the track record in jeopardy heading into Coors Light Pole Qualifying later in the day.
Suarez posted a time of 14.820 seconds (129.474 mph) in his No. 51 ARRIS Toyota Tundra, a lap that is three tenths of a second under the mark set by Ken Schrader in August of 2004 (15.118/126.922).
The run completes a sweep of both practice sessions for Kyle Busch Motorsports, after Suarez’s teammate Christopher Bell was quickest in opening practice earlier in the morning.
In all, Toyota swept the top five spots on the time sheets, with Brett Moffitt timing in second overall (14.860/129.125) for Red Horse Racing in the No. 11 BrainGear/Surface Sunscreen Tundra.
Five-time season winner William Byron (14.861/129.116) and Bell (14.894/128.830) were third and fourth for KBM, followed by Canadian Cameron Hayley (14.917/128.632), who rounded out the top five in a ThorSport Racing entry.
The Brad Keselowski Racing Ford F-150s of Tyler Reddick and rookie Austin Cindric were sixth and seventh, with three more Toyotas — Rico Abreu, Ben Rhodes and Matt Crafton — completing the top 10.
Atlanta winner John Hunter Nemechek was 17th and Daniel Hemric ended the session 19th in a backup truck, following an incident in first practice.
Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is slated for 4:45 p.m.
