NEWTON, Iowa– With a little luck and some strategy calls from atop the pit box, current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader and defending series champion, Johnny Sauter wins stage 2 during the M&M’s 200 from Iowa Speedway.

A late spin by Mike Senica with 12 to go, set up a wild fight to the finish. As Christopher Bell, who led the majority of the second stage, decided to stay out. All the other front runners came in for tires and adjustments.

A late restart with seven laps to go, saw Sauter, Bell and Briscoe battle for the top spot and Sauter eventually passing the young Kyle Busch Motorsports driver for the lead with five laps to go.

As Sauter took command of the lead, a caution involving Kaz Grala, Austin Wayne Self and Ben Rhodes ensued. Ending the second stage under caution and thus giving Sauter the stage win and crucial playoff points.

“There’s a long way to go.” Sauter said. “Our Allegiant Travel Chevy is pretty good and it seems we’re a little better on the long runs than a lot of the guys we’re racing, if we can get going here and see what happens. Pretty good effort so far and a long way to go though.”

Chase Briscoe, the runner up in the last two previous NCWTS events, finishes the stage in second, along with John Hunter-Nemechek, Christopher Bell and pole sitter Noah Gragson finishing off the top five.

Ryan Truex, Austin Cindric, Jesse Little, Matt Crafton and Brandon Jones round out the rest of the top-10.
