October 19, 2013 — RaceChaser staff report by Jacob Seelman– Longtime Orange County Speedway Limited Late Model competitor Chad Pergerson, of Roxboro, North Carolina, lost his life early this morning in a tragic car accident.

Pergerson was a City of Roxboro Lieutenant Fireman on Engine 3 C-shift and a life long member of the RFD. He was off duty at the time of the incident, and no additional details were released as of this publication. Pergerson is survived by a wife and daughter.

Pergerson competed on Saturday nights in the Limited Sportsman Late Model class at Orange County Speedway, and was sixth in track points in 2013 on the strength of six top ten finishes.

Jacob Seelman, 31, is the founder of 77 Sports Media and the current PR and digital content director for Race Face Brand Development. He studied Broadcast Journalism at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., and also serves as the full-time tour announcer for the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series. A 12-year veteran of covering all forms of racing, Seelman is a multi-time award-winning writer whose work has been published in both SPEED SPORT Magazine and Athlon Magazine, among other publications. He has also helped to mentor multiple other writers and content creators who have gone on to successful careers in motorsports.
