Defending NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series (NPAS) champion team JScho Motorsports has discontinued operations effective immediately, team officials announced on Friday.

The team, formerly comprised of drivers Michael Conti, Danny Hansen and Brian Schoenburg, won the 2014 NPAS title with Conti and had been in operation since the latter stages of the 2012 season when Schoenburg and Jason Lofing teamed up to kickstart the squad’s efforts.

In addtion to the championship, the team finished 12th (Hansen) and 26th (Schoenburg) in 2014 NPAS points, while Schoenburg finished sixth in the recent NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series to punch his ticket to the 2015 NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series.

However, with Friday’s announcement, Schoenburg’s upcoming season will be with a different operation.

“After three seasons at JScho Motorsports and one Pro Series season, I was notified by my teammates that if I wanted to be running at my best for 2015, I should take a look elsewhere because they were going to downsize,” Schoenburg said when reached Friday night. “I want to race cars and race them well, so I took their advice and found a new opportunity. I’m thankful for the many memories and opportunities they gave me and I’m looking forward to working with a new group in 2015.”

“There comes a time in every relationship, whether business or personal, when steps need to be taken to better each respective party. In this case, it was in the best interest of both Brian and JScho Motorsports that we parted ways,” Conti said of the mutual decision. “Brian was made aware of the difference in performance goals for the upcoming NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series season and did not agree with them. He is still looking for his elusive first win in the series, so his objectives are vastly different than mine or Danny’s.”

“I watched him progress through the 2014 Pro Series, and he definitely got better as the season went,” Conti added. “As he joins his new team, we hope that he is mentally and competitively in a better place and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Conti and Hansen will move to the Drill Aisle team for the 2015 NPAS season. JScho Motorsports had a technical alliance with Drill Aisle since the midpoint of the 2012 campaign.

“We are excited to officially be teammates with Tom Lewandowski and Brad Davies,” Conti said of the new partnership. “We will be able to work more closely with them, which will ultimately improve our performance in the long run.”

“With this change for the 2015 season, our core group of drivers will be in a better environment to succeed and really just have more fun which is really what it is all about,” Hansen added. “I don’t feel that we will be at a setup disadvantage due to the change either. Drill Aisle will also look for other members to add to the team to increase our performance — and currently a couple of DWC drivers are on our radar as potential additions.”

“In the end, again I see this as being a positive change for our group of guys. With all of the pieces now in place for the 2015 season, we’re just ready to get the show kickstarted with a strong run at Daytona next month.”

Additional announcements and information regarding the Drill Aisle team will be released in the near future.
