LONG POND, Pa– Matt Kenseth tops the charts in opening practice ahead of Sunday’s Overton’s 400 from the Pocono Raceway.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver topped the chart in a short stint, only running twelve laps in the session (51.114/176.077 mph).

The 2003 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, has one win at the “Tricky Triangle” that came in the 2015 season. While others ran out of fuel coming in the final laps, Kenseth played the fuel mileage game to perfection to pick up the victory in the closing moments.

Kenseth is still win-less the Cup series this season.

Finishing the session in the second position, is the current second place driver in the point standings, Kyle Larson.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver, who has been blistering all season, continued to back up his stellar 2017 campaign with a solid run in the morning practice (51.149/175.957 mph).

Erik Jones, who finished third in the June race, closes out his practice session in the third position, with Kyle Busch and defending race winner Chris Buescher rounding out the top-five.

Daniel Suarez, Martin Truex Jr., June Winner Ryan Blaney, Ryan Newman and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., complete the rest of the top-ten.

Ryan Blaney is hoping to become the first driver since Dale Earnhardt Jr., in 2014 to sweep both race’s at Pocono Raceway.

Other notables in the session include; four-time track winner Denny Hamlin in P15, three-time winner Jimmie Johnson in P16, 2011 winner Brad Keselowski P20, two-time winner Dale Earnhardt Jr., P21 and last weekend’s race winner Kasey Kahne in P22.
