MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Kyle Busch’s patented (and entertaining) catch phrase over this past weekend’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series activities at Phoenix Int’l Raceway was “Everything is great!”
Of course, that line stems back to the previous weekend in Las Vegas, when Busch went spinning after contact from Joey Logano on the last lap of the Kobalt 400 and proceeded to confront Logano after the race on pit road. Punches were thrown and Busch left the fray bloodied over the eye and flanked by several security guards.
Mars, Inc. (the parent company of M&Ms, one of the brands that serve as a primary sponsor of Busch’s No. 18 Toyota) later released a statement expressing their disappointment with Busch’s post-race actions.
“The recent actions by Kyle Busch are not consistent with the values of Mars Chocolate North America. While we are disappointed with the situation, we hope the drivers and team members involved learn from this experience and continue to grow as professional athletes representing the sport.”
Busch then gave the response of, “Everything is great! I’m excited to get back in my race car,” to three back-to-back media questions following a discussion with NASCAR officials Friday morning in Phoenix.
While this reporter doesn’t have any concrete evidence behind the reasoning, one can surmise that those stock, almost robotic repetitions of that phrase over the weekend was a discussed PR move between Busch, Joe Gibbs Racing and Mars to prevent any more negative press going forward.
Now, Busch is also turning that phrase into a positive press move, launching a t-shirt line with “Everything is great!” emblazoned across the front of the shirts and putting all proceeds earned from the shirt sales towards the Kyle Busch Foundation.

Now that’s irony. And maybe one last jab at the situation by the black-hatted master of ‘Rowdy’ himself.
