BIRCH RUN, Mich. – Ryan Gillenwater led the way during second practice for the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series’ American Racer Invitational at Birch Run Speedway and Event Center on Friday.

Gillenwater toured the four-tenths-mile oval in 13.146 seconds, posting an average speed of 109.539 mph in his No. 45 Fifth Street Auto Care/Akron Hardware sprinter ahead of the non-points special.

The Plymouth, Michigan native’s time was just a shade off of the fast lap of the day of 13.128 seconds, set by Jason Blonde during the first session earlier on.

Two-time Pay Less Little 500 champion Jacob Wilson rebounded from issues in the first practice to land second in final practice and fourth overall, with a time of 13.340 seconds (107.946 mph) in his No. 07 Anderson Transport/Indy Race Parts machine.

Wilson is making his third start of the season with Must See Racing and first since April.

Doug Dietsch was an impressive third-quick (13.354/107.833), just ahead of two-time defending series champion Jimmy McCune (13.382/107.607).

Blonde rounded out the top five, three-tenths of a second off his pacesetting lap from the opening session earlier in the afternoon.

Derek Snyder, Anthony McCune, Kyle Edwards, Jeff Bloom and Adam Biltz completed the top 10.

Final practice for the Must See Racing sprint cars is slated for 5:50 p.m.
