HAMPTON, Ga. — report by Managing Editor Jacob Seelman for Race Chaser Online and USCS Racing — sportsglutton.com photo — What was scheduled to be a night of fireworks and anticipation turned into a night of running and hiding from the weather.

The United Sprint Car Series filtercharged by K&N exhibition/test session for the 2nd annual USCS Windy Creek Casino/Hotel Wetumpka Sprint Car Shootout at Atlanta Motor Speedway, scheduled for last night during the track’s championship night of their Thursday Thunder summer series for Legend Cars and Bandoleros, was rained out after a thunderstorm rolled through and dumped rain on the grounds, delaying the racing schedule enough to make holding the test impossible Thursday night.

The series heads to Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday night for the 2014 Anderson Summer Nationals, rounds three and four of the USCS “Road to Atlanta” Asphalt Thunder Tour. The mini-series provides locked-in spots to the 22-car Atlanta A-main event for the top ten drivers in USCS pavement points after Saturday night’s action.

The USCS Windy Creek Casino/Hotel Wetumpka Sprint Car Shootout is scheduled for Friday, August 29th at Atlanta, with time trials and heat racing taking place in the afternoon and the 50-lap championship A-main being held on the quarter-mile “Thunder Ring” following NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying that night.
