The RCO-Boomtown Sim iRacing team announced on Friday that West Virginia sim racer and former dirt street and mini stock competitor Christopher Hurlow has joined the team for the 2015 season.

Hurlow comes to Boomtown Sim after fielding a solo operation since his sim racing debut in 2012 — and says he is excited to have teammates to lean on going forward into the year.

“I’m very grateful to be joining Boomtown Sim and can’t thank [team principal] Corbin Himstreet and Mitch Rollo enough for the opportunity,” Hurlow said. “I enjoy racing with all the Boomtown drivers. I used to run with Corbin and Mitch in Nobull Motorsport — both of them are really clean, hard-nosed racers and I know I can learn a lot from them.”

“We’re very excited to have Christopher on board with us for the 2015 season,” Boomtown Sim team principal Corbin Himstreet said. “We’ve had a lot of good racing with him in the past and its just one of those, if you can’t beat him, hire him type of deals. It comes at the perfect time for the team, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead for the whole operation.”

Hurlow says that it’s been a struggle in his own equipment — and hopes that his level of competitiveness will jump with the addition of setup and driving help from his new teammates.

“It’s been a tough hill to climb,” Hurlow said of getting up to speed on his own, especially in the tough Real Sim Racing (RSR) fold. “The competition in RSR is top notch and I have had to go into the past two races with no help — but I’m used to racing solo. I have been racing by myself since I started sim racing in late 2012, so this will be a fun and a new experience for me.”

“I’m looking forward to [the season] and I really think we can help each other. I have never officially been on a team but I have had plenty of friends out on the track because of the respect that I’ve earned racing clean. I’m ready to be a great teammate.”

Hurlow comes to Boomtown Sim with a solid record in sim racing, including the 2013 No Limit Racing Series championship, and back-to-back Maximum Speed Racing Series titles, in the MSR Truck Series in 2014 and the MSR XFINITY Series in 2015.
