Stevie Johns Jr. started from the pole during Friday night’s Carolina Competition Sports 25-lap combined division Legends car feature at Hickory Motor Speedway.

From there, the rest — as they say — was history.

Johns used his prime starting position to pull away from the field and diced through late lapped traffic to win the first CCS main event of the weekend, held as part of the 10th annual Easter Bunny 150 weekend for the Pro All Stars Series South Super Late Models.

“It wasn’t as easy [as it looked],” Johns said after the event. “Just running 25 laps at this track alone is a workout. I may be a part-time bodybuilder but this track [gives] you a beating.”

“It was great to beat the 48 [Ladyga Motorsports] and the 77 [Alex Pacheco]. Especially that 48 team — lately they’ve been known as the best and we beat them today. I’m really proud of that.”

In a non-stop, green-to-checkered main event, Alex Reece finished second — piloting the famed 48 for Tim and Cheryl Ladyga — and Pacheco completed the podium in third.

Brandon DeBrakeleer came home fourth and Eddie Fatscher triumphed in a furious battle in the final laps to take fifth ahead of John David.

Carolina Competition Sports’ Legends car action continues Saturday night with another full slate of action at Hickory Motor Speedway, including a second 25-lap feature event as part of the 10th annual Easter Bunny 150 for the PASS South Super Late Models.
