The reign of the Myers brothers in southeastern modified competition continued during qualifying for Friday night’s KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series Old Glory 125 at Concord Speedway.

In the series’ first-ever visit to the venerable half-mile, Jason outdueled older brother Burt for top qualifying honors with a fast lap of 15.487 seconds (116.227 mph) at the wheel of his No. 4 Adams Towing and Recovery mount.

Burt, who won the series’ first two events of the year at Hickory Motor Speedway and Ace Speedway and led most of the session after being the second car out to qualify, timed in second-fastest with a best lap of 15.524 seconds (115.949 mph).

Gary Putnam shocked the field in attendance with a valiant lap of 15.618 seconds (115.252 mph) to go third on the speed charts in the No. 77 Curb Records machine that has seen veterans including former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ryan Preece and NASCAR Sprint Cup star Ryan Newman behind the wheel in the past.

Spencer Davis, who is pulling double-duty by racing both the PASS South Super Late Model event and the KOMA Modified event on Friday night, clocked a lap good enough for fourth overall (15.650/115.016) and former NASCAR star Jeremy Mayfield rounded out the fast five (15.690/114.723).

Dan Speeney, who nearly won the series’ most recent stop at Kingsport Speedway, was just outside the top five in sixth, while NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Jamie Tomaino was a disappointing 14th in his series debut.

The KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series portion of the Old Glory Twin 125s takes the green flag just after 7 p.m. Eastern time.
