Jensen Jorgensen is going to be a very busy teenager during Champion’s Night of the 2015 Bojangles’ Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Jorgensen, from McDonough, Ga., will become the first driver in Shootout history to complete three feature events across two divisions in the same day when he races in both the Bandolero Outlaws division and the Legends Car Semi-Pro division Tuesday night.

The Peach State native, who is the reigning Shootout champion in the Outlaws division, will race the postponed Round Nine Outlaws feature, followed by Round 10 features in both divisions in a rare tripleheader — stepping back into the Bandolero for the first time since winning the USLCI Outlaws National Championship last October.

“It’s a little weird, honestly, to be getting back in the Bandolero after so much time away,” Jorgensen said ahead of the Round Nine make-up features. “It’s different, and I’m still getting used to it again, but it’s kind of fun to be back in it. I’m definitely gunning for some top five finishes tonight and maybe a win — if we’re really fortunate.”

“It’s certainly a grind,” Jorgensen added of the tough task of racing three features in one day. “It’s a hot one today; it’s not going to be easy but I’m excited to see how we can do across the board. You never know what can happen.”

Jorgensen is using the season-ending doubleheader at the Shootout as a test session and refresher course to prepare himself for the Bandolero Nationals, Aug. 6-7 at CMS.

“I told my dad in October that the only way that I wasn’t going to be done in the Bandolero was if they announced that the Nationals were going to be at Charlotte, and sure enough that’s exactly what happened. I couldn’t be more excited to try to pick up one more big win at that race in just over a week, and it’s going to be a lot of fun trying, for sure.”

Jorgensen has won the Bandolero Nationals for the past two years, and is looking to become the first driver in U.S. Legends Car International history to win the season’s biggest event for three consecutive years.
