INDIANAPOLIS– After finishing the first practice session in the second position, Justin Allgaier went one better as he finishes the final NASCAR XFINITY Series practice session in first place, ahead of the Lilly Diabetes 250 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The JR Motorsports driver showed speed from the late morning’s opening practice and backed up his efforts stoutly (54.05/166.485 mph).
In second position is Matt Tifft (54.12/166.291 mph). The Joe Gibbs Racing driver bettered his first practice speed from the morning by eight positions.
In third is two-time and defending winner of the race, Kyle Busch (54.16/166.162 mph).
JRM teammates William Byron and current NXS points leader Elliott Sadler round out the rest of the top-five.
Paul Menard, Ben Kennedy, Brandon Jones, Ty Dillon and Daniel Hemric complete the rest of the top-10.
Only one red flag came out in the session as the No.13 of Timmy Hill lost his engine early in the practice session.
The next on track activity for the NASCAR XFINITY Series is qualifying for the Lilly Diabetes 250, July 22, at 12:45 pm/et (NBCSN, IMS, Sirius XM).
