With his NASCAR Sprint Cup father Jeff in attendance Thursday night at New Smyrna, thirteen-year-old Harrison Burton held off a hard-charging field over the final laps to claim a historic Pro Late Model triumph during the 48th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

With the win in the 100-lap event, Burton became the youngest-ever Pro Late Model winner in World Series history.

Veteran Brad May chased Burton over the final stretch, but could not get alongside to challenge for the win. He settled for second, with Anderson Bowen, Alex Guenette and Sheldon Creed completed the top five.

In Super Late Model action, Ryan Moore ended the dominance of Stephen Nasse and Steve Wallace, notching his first victory of the World Series over the two veteran Late Model drivers.

Justin Reynolds (Super Stocks) and Long Islander Justin Bonsignore (Tour-Type Mods) also picked up victories on the evening’s action.

The 48th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing is scheduled to continue tonight with the tour modified Richie Evans Memorial 100, Super Late Models, Pro Late Models and the Mini Stocks. Rain has been in the area all morning, but speedway officials have said they will do everything in their power to get the evening’s events in tonight.
