EAGLE, Neb. — Kyle Larson will make a detour on his way to Michigan Int’l Speedway for this weekend’s NASCAR proceedings at the two-mile oval, first heading to Nebraska to compete with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Eagle Raceway.

Larson announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he will step into a second car for Stenhouse Jr./Wood Racing during Tuesday night’s Eagle Nationals, driving for long-time friend and fellow Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as a teammate to 99-time Outlaws winner Joey Saldana.

Larson’s best World of Outlaws result so-far this season is a runner-up finish on May 29, when Shane Stewart drove past him late in the race and went on to win in a car co-owned by Larson and Justin Marks.

The Elk Grove, Calif. native has one Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and three NASCAR XFINITY Series wins so far this season, currently sitting second in Cup points to two-time winner Martin Truex Jr.

In total, Larson has four-career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wins, with the most recent of those coming on Sept. 8, 2013 at California’s Antioch Speedway.

That night, Larson started from the pole and led all 30 laps of the feature, leading a California sweep of the top-four positions that saw now-five-time Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Chad Kemenah end up as the highest Outlaw regular in fifth.

Pit gates at Eagle Raceway open at 2 p.m. local time, with grandstand general admission seating opening at 4 p.m.
