PERRIS, Calif. — Report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman — Doug Allen photo —

Damion Gardner did it again on Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway.

Gardner charged forward after winning his heat race to take the lead from Richard Vander Weerd on lap 17 of the Firecracker 40 at PAS, running away over the final 23 laps to notch his fourth AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series victory of the 2015 campaign and his third at Perris this year.

Gardner is now tied with Vander Weerd for the most series wins on the season, with each driver having four wins to their credit.

Vander Weerd, who led laps six through 16, hung on to finish second, with Austin Williams completing the podium in third.

Points leader Mike Spencer and Brody Roa rounded out the top five. Jake Swanson came home sixth after leading the first five laps.

Spencer set fast time in his No. 50 Chaffin entry, at a 16.550-second clip. Spencer, Logan Williams and R.J. Johnson won heat races in addition to Gardner. Parker Colston took the victory in the semi-feature.

Spencer’s points lead has now been trimmed to just three points over Gardner.

The AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series resumes on August 15, back at the Perris Auto Speedway.
