September 23, 2013 – By Jacob Seelman for Speed 77 Radio and Race Chaser Online – Hendersonville, NC – At the moment, there’s just no stopping Dillon Bassett on the UARA-STARS tour.

Not Mother Nature forcing the race to Sunday afternoon, not lack of track position at the start of the race, and not even defending champion Travis Swaim could prevent Bassett, known as “Spark Plug” on the tour, from notching his third UARA win of the 2013 season. Bassett took the lead at lap 113 from title contender Garrett Campbell and never looked back, leading the final 37 laps en route to the win in the Caraway 150.

“I was going for it the whole time,” Bassett said post-race. “I’ve done it for the last 3 or 4 races and that is what I am going to continue to do. Brakes we thought were going to be an issue but they were fine. They (Bassett’s team) gave me an unbelievable race car and I can’t thank them enough.”

Travis Swaim chased Bassett all the way to the checkered flag, but the 2012 UARA champion didn’t have enough for the young gun despite winning his series-leading 7th Sunoco pole of the season in qualifying.

“We got by everybody but one. They’ve really just been way above everybody else the last 3 races, so maybe we can figure out what’s going on there. Good job for my guys. We fought back and finished second.”

Joey Mucciacciaro, Garrett Campbell, who led the most laps on the event, and 14-year-old rookie Garrett Jones rounded out the top five. The race was only slowed by caution three times, with one red-flag period on Lap 8 after rookie Dylan Hall lost a motor in turns 1 and 2.

The UARA-STARS now go into a two-week off period before strapping in for their next event on October 12th at Newport Speedway, the first event of a stretch of three-straight in the month of October.
