BRADENTON, Fla. — Report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman — Desoto Speedway photo —

For one, it was a trip to victory lane Saturday night at Desoto Speedway. For another, it was a night where he did exactly what he had to do.

Two-time Safety-Kleen TBARA Sprint Car Series champion Troy DeCaire claimed the win in Saturday night’s 40-lap finale, making just his second start in Florida in the last three years and avenging a tough loss in the Frank Riddle Memorial at Desoto one race prior where he finished fourth after charging from the rear of the field.

While DeCaire ran away up front, Shane Butler fought back after being involved in an early race crash, racing forward from the rear of the 21-car starting field to finish (coincidentally) fourth and claim his third-career TBARA championship, following titles in 2002 and 2010.

Ben Fritz finished second with Larry Brazil Jr. rounding out the podium in third. Former three-time series champion Dude Teate rounded out the top five at the finish.
