BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. — Having pushed his winning streak to five in a row, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points leader Kyle Larson is shooting for an even six-pack of sprint car victories during Tuesday night’s Pennsylvania Speedweek show at Grandview Speedway.
The 35-lap event, part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series, is the 23rd time sprint cars have appeared at Grandview’s third-mile during Pennsylvania Speedweek.
Round five of Speedweek will pay out $5,000 to the winner, and Larson enters the night having taken a combined $10,000 from the PA Posse over the last two nights of racing in the Keystone State.
Larson started his impeccable three-week stretch with a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series win at Nebraska’s Eagle Raceway, driving for friend and fellow team owner Ricky Stenhouse Jr. on June 13.
He continued the run with triumphs during Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions action at Wayne County Speedway and Sharon Speedway on June 19-20, as part of Ohio Sprint Speedweek, before adding his first two career Central Pennsylvania wins at Path Valley Speedway and Lincoln Speedway on Sunday and Monday.
Larson has one previous Grandview Speedway start, which resulted in a third-place finish in 2012.
Meanwhile, Freddie Rahmer — who won the Speedweek opener at Williams Grove Speedway — enters the night as the Speedweek points leader through the first four races.
Greg Hodnett has dominated at Grandview Speedway the past few years, winning five of the past nine 410 sprint car main events. Hodnett seeks his 10th series win on Tuesday night, which would move him past Fred Rahmer and into a tie for second on the all-time list.
Dale Blaney is the most recent 410 sprint car winner at Grandview Speedway, having taken the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions return to the third-mile in August of last year. He will be aboard the Zemco No. 1z.
Saturday Lincoln winner Danny Dietrich was the driver who ended Hodnett’s five-race win streak at Grandview, taking the inaugural Thunder Cup win in 2015. In doing so, Dietrich became the first driver since 2011 to beat Hodnett at that point.
Alongside the Speedweek sprint car event, Grandview’s 358 NASCAR Modifieds will compete in a 30-lap, $3,000-to-win event as the support division.
