In closing, I flash back to lap 13 on Saturday night, when Bryan hauled ass around the top and banged the Belleville cushion as he rocketed by Chad Boat for the lead.

He couldn’t have possibly known what was going to happen a half mile later.

But what I know is this: he went out on his own terms, he went out swinging … and he went out proving one last time to every single one of us just how insanely talented he truly was.

To escape disaster like he did in his Friday night crash at Belleville, come back with no fear and push all the way through from ninth to the top of the mountain was who Bryan Clauson was, from the very first lap right down to the very last.

And it’s how I’ll always remember him.

My prayers go out to his fiance Lauren, his mom and dad and all those most deeply affected by his loss. We love you, we’re here for you and we’ll get through this as a racing family.

We have lost “our Bryan”.

But we’ll never forget the badass underneath.

Godspeed, BC.
