CONCORD, N.C. — All scheduled Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series activity was rained out Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, after persistent mist and then rain dampened the 1.5-mile quad-oval from the morning onward.
Cup teams were due to have two practice sessions, one from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. and a second from 1 p.m. to 1:55 p.m., but now the teams will go into Sunday’s Bank of America 500 (1 p.m. ET, NBC) with only their notes from Friday afternoon’s 90-minute session to work with.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin won the pole Friday night, his first of the season and second at Charlotte, and will lead the field to green alongside teammate Matt Kenseth.
NASCAR XFINITY Series qualifying was also scrubbed due to the weather, and the Drive for the Cure 300 (scheduled for a 3 p.m. ET start) is likely to be delayed, with continued rain falling as of 2:15 p.m.
Race Chaser Online will provide additional weather updates from the track as they become available.
