After brother Ty paced the opening NASCAR XFINITY Series practice session on Friday at Chicagoland Speedway, Austin Dillon led ‘Happy Hour’ for NASCAR’s second-highest division on Friday night.

The elder Dillon brother laid down a quick lap of 30.450 seconds (177.340 mph) during his fastest of 34 circuits around the 1.5-mile oval to top the field in the 55-minute session. He was also the only driver to break the 177-mph barrier.

In a surprising twist, J.J. Yeley put underfunded JGL Racing second on the board in final practice, running a clip of 30.587 seconds (176.546 mph) at the wheel of his No. 28 Toyota.

Ryan Blaney was third in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford (30.814/176.546), tied with Drew Herring’s run in the No. 20 Toyota.

Herring, who was fourth-quick, jumped in the Dollar General machine to help dial in the car for rookie Ross Kenseth, who will be making his NXS debut for Joe Gibbs Racing on Saturday night. Kenseth’s fastest lap left him 14th on the board, exactly where he was in the first practice.

Ty Dillon was not too far behind his brother, rounding out the fast five in fifth (30.978/174.317).

Series points leader Chris Buescher was sixth, and another surprise was Dylan Lupton, who put the Athenian Motorsports No. 25 Chevrolet seventh-fastest. Brendan Gaughan, Chase Elliott and Brian Scott rounded out the top ten.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series Owens Corning AttiCat 300 takes the green flag Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time (FOX Sports 1, MRN, SiriusXM).
