DOVER, Del. — Apparently, Rodney Childers got a job title change that he wasn’t even told about during the NASCAR activities this past weekend at Dover Int’l Speedway.

A fan sent a Tweet to Childers on Monday morning, bashing the Sprint Cup champion crew chief for his hand in the lackluster performance shown by Stewart-Haas Racing driver Danica Patrick over the past several races.

Patrick finished 28th on Sunday and was never in contention up front.

The only problem with all this? Childers is not the crew chief on Patrick’s No. 10 team — he’s the crew chief for the No. 4 Chevrolet driven by her teammate Kevin Harvick, who finished 37th but was in contention for a top 10 early before a broken trackbar mount foiled his chances for a good result.

Now, I’m sure Billy Scott might appreciate someone else shouldering the blame for a rough weekend in Dover, but he’ll definitely want to have his spot on the pit box back from Childers when things start looking up for Patrick.

Keep in mind, she did lead laps a race ago at Loudon, after all.

The full exchange between the fan, Childers and amused onlookers is below. Feel free to grab a laugh!
