April 16, 2014 — report by Managing Editor and NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series correspondent Jacob Seelman — RICHMOND, VA — iRacing’s finest will have to wait a little bit longer before they have another chance to hit the race track again.

NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series and iRacing officials announced today that Round 5 of the championship at Richmond International Raceway, scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd, has been cancelled due to the release of the newest iRacing build that morning.

“There’s going to be some pretty big changes with this new build next week,” Ilkka Haapala, from Pro Sim Racing, said of the decision to scrap the event. “iRacing wants to give everyone a fair opportunity to be able to spend time with the car.”

Two-time series champion Ray Alfalla told Race Chaser Online that a decision on a potential rescheduling of the event is still under discussion.

As of now, iRacing has added a second drop week for the Daytona-Watkins Glen segment of the season, allowing everyone to scrap the Richmond event from record, as all drivers would have scored 0 points for the night.

With that, the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series heads next to Pocono for what becomes Round 5 of 16 in the battle for the championship crown. Alfalla led 49 of 100 laps in last year’s race at the Tricky Triangle, starting a run of consistency that nearly led him to the series crown for a third straight season. Will Alfalla break his winless skid and finally get to victory lane in 2014? Or will Nick Ottinger, the newest master of the intermediate tracks, find his way to victory for the second time in three races?
