March 29, 2014 — staff report by Managing Editor Jacob Seelman for Race Chaser Online — NASCAR photo — MARTINSVILLE, VA – Some days you just can’t beat Mother Nature.
Despite continued efforts by NASCAR and Toyota Tundra Air Titan 2.0 track dryers Saturday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway, continued rain showers, including a pouring deluge just after 4 PM Eastern time, forced NASCAR to postpone Saturday’s scheduled NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Kroger 250.
The truck race is now scheduled for Sunday afternoon immediately following the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 500, scheduled for a 1 PM Eastern time start tomorrow.
Qualifying for the Kroger 250 was also rained out Saturday morning, forcing NASCAR officials to set the field by the rulebook. By virtue of the weather, defending Martinsville winner Darrell Wallace Jr. will start from the pole position, with sophomore Truck series driver Ryan Blaney to his outside.
The grid was set based on combined practice times from the two sessions held yesterday afternoon.
