HOLLY, Mich. — Must See Racing has announced the official conclusion of their 2016 sprint car schedule, citing unavoidable rain outs, track cancellations and promoter financial issues that have created a season-ending scheduling void.

Officials attempted to fit multiple new opportunities and options into a revised schedule that would work for the race teams, fans and stakeholders, but were unsuccessful in their efforts.

By virtue of the decision, the final 2016 season standings will be based on the already-completed events, crowning Jimmy McCune with his second-consecutive series title.

“An outstanding and really good year of great competition and fan entertainment basically got cut short by circumstances that Must See Racing had no ability to control,” said series founder and president Jim Hanks. “I want to personally thank our valued and loyal race teams, tracks, staff, marketing partners and fans for contributing to a year of renewed interest and strength for our series. We will be announcing the date and location of the 2016 championship awards banquet in the near future.”

Drivers and teams will now look forward to the to-be-announced Champions’ Award Banquet, recognizing the season’s accomplishments and the American Sprint Cup mini-series with achievement, contingency and points fund awards.

While McCune celebrates his second series title, Brian Gerster will be honored as the American Sprint Cup mini-series champion, which this season pitted top Southeast 360ci sprint car drivers against the 410ci Midwestern-based series regulars.

Johnny Bridges, from Cherryville, N.C., was the highest-finishing 360ci driver in the final ASC points tally in third.

Must See Racing is also looking ahead to its upcoming 2017 sprint car schedule, already with potential opportunities for growth as the series looks to build on its momentum from this year’s successful campaign.

“I am extremely pleased at the numerous communications, outstanding proposals and opportunities we are currently receiving from tracks, promoters and potential marketing partners that will no doubt enhance and improve every aspect of our business plan and entertainment package in 2017,” concluded Hanks.
