ANDERSON, Ind. — Report and photo by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman —

Jimmy McCune continues to roll in Must See Racing Sprint Car Series action.

One week after claiming the series points lead and just hours after sweeping both series practice sessions at Anderson Speedway, McCune backed up his recent hot streak by claiming the Engine Pro Fast Time Award during two-lap time trials at the quarter-mile, high-banked bullring.

McCune’s one and only lap of 10.614 seconds (84,794 mph) wasn’t enough to break the three-year old track record of 10.168 seconds, but it was enough to give him his second fast time of the 2015 MSRSCS season — three tenths of a second clear of the chasing pack.

Just as he did in practice, Fort Wayne, Ind. veteran Chris Neuenschwander slotted in second-quick on the overall speed charts, clocking a best lap of 10.928 seconds (82.357 mph) at the wheel of the No. 10 Spirit of America Special for Koehler Motorsports. He was followed by 21-year-old young gun Grant Galloway, who drove the Powell Racing/Curtis Motor Sales No. 12 to a clip of 10.984 seconds (81.937 mph).

Brad Wyatt (10.995/81.855) and Derek Bischak (11.130/80.862) rounded out the fast five, with the top four drivers all under the 11-second bracket.

After setting the quick lap, McCune rolled a six on the ARP Inversion Die, meaning sixth-fastest qualifier Jeff Bloom will start on the Engine Pro Pole Position, providing he finishes his assigned heat race later in the program.

Racing action begins at Anderson Speedway at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
