LINCOLN, Ill. — staff report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman — MOWA photo — Rico Abreu took advantage of early race troubles by polesitter Christopher Bell and then held off a charging field in the closing laps to score his third MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Store victory of the season on Friday night at Lincoln Speedway.

The victory comes on the opening night of the series’ final weekend of the 2014 season.

Bell, Chris Urish and Jake Blackhurst were all involved in an early-race incident in turn one that dashed Bell’s hopes of a double win for the night, after he claimed the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget victory at Lincoln.

Three-time POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget champion and ASCS National Tour regular Brad Loyet chased Abreu but had to settle for second, and three-time MOWA Sprint Series champion Jerrod Hull rounded out the podium in third.

Terry McCarl and Joey Moughan were the rest of the top five.

The MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Store concludes its 2014 schedule tonight at Jacksonville Speedway with the Ron Milton Race of Champions.
