BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — Report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman — Bryan Clauson Racing photo —
Bryan Clauson kept his ‘Circular Insanity’ Tour rolling on Saturday night at Indiana’s Brownstown Speedway in a big way.
After competing in a California Civil War Series winged sprint car event the night prior at Silver Dollar Speedway, Clauson came halfway across the country and won his way out of the quarter-mile dirt bullring, dominating the eighth annual No Way Out 40 / Jesse Hockett Memorial for non-winged sprint cars en route to his second event victory in the last three years.
Overall the win was Clauson’s eighth in his 34th start of 2016, as the three-time USAC National champion and multi-time USAC Sprint Car and Midget champion chases competition in a scheduled 200 races across the season. The Noblesville, Indiana native banked $7,500 for the victory in the unofficial kickoff to the Indiana sprint car season.
Defending event winner and reigning USAC National Sprint Car champion Robert Ballou finished second to Clauson, followed by Kyle Cummins, who rounded out the podium in third.
Dave Darland came out of one of the night’s two B-Mains to finish fourth ahead of Jon Stanbrough.
Shane Cottle, Justin Grant, Tyler Courtney, Jeff Bland Jr. and Brady Short made up the remainder of the top 10.
Brownstown Speedway returns to action on April 2, with opening points night for the track’s local divisions as the facility embarks on its 65th year of racing action since opening in 1952.
