The 18-year-old Turner-Scott Motorsports driver out of Las Vegas topped the practice sheets in advance of today’s season ending K&N Pro Series East event at Road Atlanta. Kwasnieksi brings a five-point lead over Brett Moffitt, the 21-year-old Grimes, Iowa native and three-time KNPSE championship runner-up, into the event as the two NASCAR Next drivers duke it out for the series crown. Kwasniewski set a quick lap around the 2.54-mile road course of 87.306 seconds for an average speed of 104.735 mph.

NASCAR Next driver Daniel Suárez, of Mexico, was second fastest at 87.304 seconds (104.642 mph) followed by Canadian road-course ringer Andrew Ranger at 87.501 seconds (104.502 mph) in third.

Bryan Ortiz was fourth-quick at 87.687 seconds (104.280 mph) and Moffitt was fifth on the time sheets at 87.896 seconds (104.032 mph).

Austin Dyne, Gray Gaulding, Sergio Peña, Cole Custer and Dale Quarterley completed the top ten.

NASCAR Next is an industry initiative to young rising talents in NASCAR; debuting with a class of 13 drivers back in May of this year.

This afternoon’s practice session was the first time cars were able to get on track after all of Thursday’s activities were washed out due to rain. As a result, the lineup for the race will be set per the series rule book, placing the two title contenders, Kwasniewski and Moffitt, on the front row.

The Road Atlanta 115 is set to get underway at 3:30 p.m. ET.
