MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Late model stock car veteran Charlie Watson will tip his cap to NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin with his throwback paint scheme for the CARS Tour Throwback 276 at Hickory Motor Speedway Aug. 3-4.

Watson will adorn his machine with the same colors that Martin carried on his No. 6 Ford Taurus for night races in the NASCAR Cup Series during the 2004 and ’05 seasons. The scheme was designed by CARS Tour premier graphics partner Graphix Unlimited.

At that time, Martin was sponsored by Pfizer Inc. through their Viagra brand. The familiar blue-and-white colors went to victory lane at Dover (Del.) Int’l Speedway in 2004 and again at Kansas Speedway in 2005, marking Martin’s final two Cup Series wins for car owner Jack Roush.

Martin finished fourth in the championship standings both seasons.

Watson will be looking to improve on his season-best finish of sixth, earned at Orange County Speedway on April 21 after charging forward from 19th, during the 138-lap late model stock portion of the two-day CARS Response Energy Tour event.

The CARS Tour Throwback 276 is being taped in association with Pit Row Media and the tape-delayed broadcast will air on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on MAVTV as part of Suzuki presents SPEED SPORT. The event will also be live streamed on CARS Tour TV by Pit Row Media on Aug. 3-4.
