LONG POND, Pa. — A bizarre scenario as time was expiring on ARCA Racing Series qualifying Friday afternoon led to the scrapping of 32 qualifying times and Brandon Jones inheriting the top spot for the General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible200 at Pocono Raceway.

Despite only two cars — the No. 28 of Michael Self and the No. 33 of Justin Fontaine — remaining that had not yet made an attempt, due to multiple incidents during the session, ARCA officials declared the session “incomplete” by rule and reverted to practice speeds to determine the starting lineup.

Dalton Sargeant, who was the next-to-last car to qualify and went out ahead of Self, crashed on his run in the No. 77 Cunningham Motorsports Ford.

With NASCAR XFINITY Series final practice scheduled to begin immediately following ARCA qualifying, and a tight on-track schedule due to television commitments, the session could not be completed.

Codie Rohrbaugh was on pace to score his first-career General Tire Pole Award, with a lap of 52.945 seconds (169.988 mph) in his No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet, before the call was made to abandon the session.

Brandon Jones’ No. 8 Chevrolet will start from first after his fast lap in practice, and he will be joined on the front row by Kyle Weatherman, who is seeking his second-career ARCA win and first for Mason Mitchell Motorsports.

Sargeant is scheduled to roll off third, but will have to drop to the rear due to rolling out a backup car.

Despite missing out on the official pole award, Rohrbaugh will still start from the outside of row two in fourth, and his sister Tweeted before the start of the race that they were still given the pole trophy by ARCA officials.
