Bayston will be part of a two-car team for Grove next year, with Brock Zearfoss piloting the second car and former Destiny Motorsports crew chief Shane Bowers turning the wrenches on that machine.

Potter, who worked with both Caleb Helms and Dave Blaney in different capacities over the past year, is looking forward to the opportunity to build chemistry with Bayston and develop him as a driver.

“I’m ready to go and really excited about working with Spencer,” noted Potter. “He’s got a lot of talent and has really solid car control, but above all that, he’s a gasser. He’s not afraid to get up on the wheel, like a lot of young kids in the sport these days … and that’s what you need in a deal like this.

“I think he’s in that mold, coming out of the midgets, where he puts it on the edge and knows where that line is, and I think that’s going to be valuable for us as a team once we get on the track.”

Bayston, who won the USAC National Midget Series championship in 2017, feels that his experience pursuing the USAC crown over the past two years will only help him as he chases the All Star title and furthers his long-term dream of racing with the World of Outlaws.

“I feel like those two years of running for Keith (Kunz) gives me a blueprint of how to chase points, so to speak, that we can hopefully go and repeat with the All Stars,” explained Bayston. “Having been a USAC driver, it’s a different step … but I feel like it’s a step in the right direction towards my ultimate goal.

“I feel like racing with the All Stars will get me prepared to compete on the Outlaw stage, and that’s my main focus in the next couple of years. I feel like this is a great first step to achieving that dream.”

Counts is behind his driver’s dream as well, noting that the quartet hopes to remain together well beyond this year and aspires to make the leap into the World of Outlaws field in 2020.

“The goal is that we will step up with the Outlaws after next season,” Counts said. “That does depend on some things, mind you, but that’s what we’re shooting towards.”

Before that, however, the task at hand will be chasing an All Star championship, something that Bayston is eager for the opportunity to pursue.

“I’m ready to go; this is the first step on the way to my dreams and I can’t wait for February to get here,” he said with a smile. “We’re excited for what’s ahead and ready to hopefully collect a lot of trophies together going forward.”
