TULSA, Okla. – Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Larson will lead a field of 73 entries into battle at Tulsa Expo Raceway on Tuesday for Warren CAT Qualifying Night during the 33rd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals.

Larson, who will drive the No. 01 McDonald’s Bullet/Toyota co-owned by his father, Mike, and Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, was in contention to win last year’s Chili Bowl finale before his engine failed with less than 15 laps to go in the championship A-main.

The Elk Grove, Calif., native returns as one of two KKM-prepared entries participating in Tuesday’s preliminary program. Larson is joined by 19-year-old California young gun Jesse Colwell, who won the KKM Giveback Classic at Millbridge (N.C.) Speedway in October to earn his Chili Bowl ride in the No. 71.

Another NASCAR Cup Series star, Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman, will also be racing on Tuesday night. Bowman will pilot his own No. 55X Stewart/SR-11 entry as a teammate to C.J. Leary, who will race later in the week.

Additional notables on Tuesday’s roster include dirt late model ace Brian Shirley, three-time POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League champion Zach Daum, reigning AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series champion Tyler Courtney, three-time Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour champion Sam Hafertepe Jr. and former USAC Speed2 Eastern Midget Ass’n Rookie of the Year Andrew Layser.

Shirley will pilot one of four Jim Neuman-owned entries, while Daum returns to his own No. 5D and Courtney takes the wheel of the familiar No. 7BC for Clauson-Marshall Racing. Hafertepe will compete in his own No. 15H and Layser will make his Chili Bowl debut in the No. 47BC for Clauson-Marshall.

Dirt modified ace Larry Wight and FOX and NBC broadcast personality Dillon Welch are also slated to participate in Tuesday night’s preliminary program.

The top-two finishers from the 25-lap preliminary A-main will be locked into the finale and will also participate in the pole shuffle that will set the first five rows of the starting grid.

In addition to the regular racing program, Tuesday is also the traditional race day for the Vacuworx Invitational Race of Champions, a 20-lap all-star event which annually features past Chili Bowl winners, driver selections by past Chili Bowl-winning car owners and former VIROC race winners.

Chad Boat is the defending VIROC winner, while Sammy Swindell has won the VIROC more times than any other driver, with four victories in the prestigious event.
