MARNE, Mich. – Bobby Santos rolled to a clean sweep of Saturday’s Must See Racing Sprint Car Series open practice sessions at Berlin Raceway, ahead of the Engine Pro Fast Car Slash.

Driving the potent No. 22A Mayhew Tools/Parker’s Sanitary Pumping sprinter for long-time car owner Dick Fieler, Santos posted a huge lap of 13.307 seconds (118.359 mph) around the seven-sixteenths-mile oval to lead an 18-car field for the series’ biggest night of the season.

Two-time defending series champion Jimmy McCune was second-quick overall, posting a top time of 13.332 seconds (118.137 mph) in the familiar No. 88 Abe’s Auto Parts/B&B Machinery Movers/Rev-X Oil entry.

Fellow two-time champion Brian Gerster battled traffic in the first round of hot laps, but jumped from sixth to third on the board in the final round with his time of 13.673 seconds (115.191 mph) in the No. 50m RAM Engineering Midwest/Landrum Performance Springs mount for Dick Myers Racing.

Gerster holds the all-time Berlin track record of 12.765 seconds (123.384 mph), set in June of 2015 during the Must See Racing Speed Trials at the Marne facility.

Defending Berlin winner Jason Blonde and Doug Dietsch completed the top five on the practice charts.

Teddy Alberts was sixth ahead of Charlie Schultz, Anthony McCune, Derek Snyder and Christian Koehler.

Abe’s Auto Parts Time Trials for the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series are slated to kick off at 5:15 p.m.
