OVID, Mich. – Anthony McCune led the combined practice charts for the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series for the second-straight race on Saturday afternoon, leading the field at Owosso Speedway.

The 20-year-old nephew of three-time defending series champion Jimmy McCune stopped the clocks with a lap of 13.619 seconds (99.216 mph) around the three-eighths-mile oval in his No. 8 Abe’s Auto Parts & Sales/B&B Machinery Movers/Rev-X Oil sprinter.

Anthony McCune has set fast time in two of the last four series events and is second in the points standings to Jimmy McCune entering Saturday night’s Laura Devlin Memorial Fast Forty, sitting 50 markers back of the championship lead. His fast lap was in the second and final session.

Jimmy McCune landed second-fastest on the combined speed charts with a time of 13.653 seconds (98.879 mph) in his No. 88 Abe’s Auto Parts & Sales/B&B Machinery Movers/Rev-X Oil machine, set during the first round of practice.

Brian Gerster was third-quick in the Dick Myers-owned No. 50m, followed by Michigan natives Ike Beasley and Jeff Bloom, a 2013 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee.

Charlie Schultz, Jason Blonde, Doug Dietsch, Jerry Caryer and Tom Jewell completed the top 10.

Jewell had mechanical issues that prevented him from making a lap during opening practice, but turned laps at full song during the final round.

Qualifying for the Laura Devlin Memorial Fast 40 is set for 5 p.m. local time.
