SALISBURY, N.C. – Toyota Racing officials confirmed Tuesday that the entry list for the Keith Kunz Motorsports Giveback Classic presented by Toyota Racing Development has swelled to more than 100 accepted drivers.

The two-night event, set for Oct. 30-31 at North Carolina’s Millbridge Speedway, will see the star-studded cast vying to win one of the most coveted prizes in all of dirt track racing: a ride in a KKM-prepared Toyota midget for the 33rd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals.

Should the race winner not turn 16 prior to the Chili Bowl – which runs from Jan. 14-19, 2019 – they will earn a KKM ride at a different event.

The milestone in entries was hit with two full months remaining before the entry deadline. Applications for the Giveback Classic will continue to be accepted through Oct. 1.

“We hoped that we would get a lot of interest from talented drivers across the country, but we never imagined it would be this big,” said team owner Keith Kunz. “This race began as my way of giving back to the karting community, and to receive this much interest from across the United States is incredible. We can’t wait to get out to Millbridge Speedway and watch what I’m sure will be an exciting night for everyone involved.”

Kunz noted that while Cycleland (Calif.) Speedway has been the biggest proving ground for outlaw kart racing in the past, Millbridge’s rapid growth since the Burnetts revived the facility made it an easy choice to host such a unique event.

“The outlaw karts have been a big draw for us; we’ve had so many driver in the last six years that have come through KKM who have all grown up racing them,” said Kunz. “Not just Kyle (Larson) … but Rico (Abreu), Tanner Thorson, Ryan Robinson, the Carrick brothers, Holly Shelton, all of them have proven themselves in those cars and have gone on to do bigger things both for us and beyond our team, as well.

“We see more kids in the outlaw karts that have the potential, and Millbridge has become probably the other premier facility in the country that boasts the kind of reputation that Cycleland does in that discipline,” Kunz added. “It’s the place that’s connected to us in the Midwest, and being so close to Charlotte, they get a lot of the superstars from NASCAR to show up out there as well. It’s put that spotlight on outlaw kart racing and it just seemed like a natural fit to do it there.”

The current Giveback Classic entry list already features drivers from 17 states, including 2018 Millbridge feature winners Brent Crews, Karsyn Elledge, Colby Horn, Tucker Scanlon and Chaz Woodward, as well as 2018 QRC Open winner Tyler Seavey.

In addition to the entry list update, Tuesday’s announcement also included the confirmation of Hoosier Tire as the official tire of the KKM Giveback Classic presented by TRD.

In an effort to help alleviate the costs of many of the event competitors, Hoosier will give away a pair of tires to the first 20 drivers that win an open class feature event between Aug. 1 and Oct. 30, if the driver has already completed their paid entry form.

“Millbridge Speedway could not be more proud to partner with TRD and now Hoosier for this event,” said track owner Jeremy Burnett. “To have Hoosier come on with us and help provide some of these competitors with a pair of tires is an incredible gesture and it will hopefully encourage more drivers to apply and come out to compete in this one-of-a-kind East Coast event.”
