MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman — HSMJM photo —

HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks (HSMJM) has unveiled the paint scheme for 15-year-old Wallkill, N.Y. rookie Tyler Dippel, who joins the team for his first full season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2016 after competing on the Super DIRTcar Series tour for big block modifieds the last two years.

Dippel’s car will be primarily backed by East/West Marine and TyCar Trenchless Technologies, with additional support from St. Judes Children’s Research Hospitals, AccuDoc Solutions, D and A Contract Contractors of Gardiner and other supporters of HSMJM.

The paint scheme is the third of HSMJM’s four cars to be revealed prior to Sunday’s season-opening Jet Tools 150 at New Smyrna Speedway, following rides for 16-year-old sophomore driver Justin Haley and fellow rookie Hunter Baize.

The young hotshoe rose into national prominence in November of 2014, when he nearly won the final night of the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, before smacking the outside wall late in the 40-lap SDS main event and ceding the win to Danny Johnson. Dippel was set to make a run at the series crown in 2015, but was hurt in a freak trailer door accident at Lebanon Valley Speedway in May and spent much of the summer recovering from five separate pelvic fractures, among other injuries.

Dippel made a valiant comeback late in the year to claim Rookie of the Year honors in the Super DIRTcar ranks, as well as compete in three ARCA Racing Series events for Lira Motorsports at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and Salem Speedway. His best finish of the three came on the pavement at Salem, where he ran fourth to race winner — and eventual series champion — Grant Enfinger.

Sunday will mark Dippel’s first-ever start in a NASCAR-sanctioned series. He looks to follow in the footsteps of former HSMJM drivers Ben Rhodes (2014) and William Byron (2015), who both won the K&N East championship in their rookie season.
