CONCORD, N.C. — Ryan Blaney put his No. 12 Snap-On Ford Mustang in the opening round of practice for Saturday’s Hisense 4K TV 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (1 p.m. ET, FS1, PRN, SiriusXM).

In the middle of the session, Casey Mears destroyed the right side of the No. 98 GEICO Ford Mustang after hitting the wall in Turn 4. He and the Biagi-DenBeste Racing team have gone to a backup car for Saturday’s race.

Qualifying for the Hisense 4K TV 300 is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday (FS1, PRN, SiriusXM).
