JOLIET, Ill. — Report by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman — Michael Waltrip photo —

Mother Nature won Saturday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series stop at Chicagoland Speedway.

Just before 9 p.m. Eastern time (8 p.m. local time), about a half hour before the scheduled start of the Owens Corning AttiCat 300, a downpour drenched the 1.5-mile oval just outside of Chicago — bringing with it lightning that forced NASCAR and track officials to evacuate the grandstands.

The start of the race had already been moved up to 9:40 p.m. Eastern, but with two cells to the west heading for the speedway and a limited stretch, even with lights, to attempt to get the race in, NASCAR elected to postpone the 200-lap, 300-mile event to Sunday afternoon at noon Eastern, 11 a.m. Central time (live on FOX Sports 2).

The event will be run on Father’s Day, with Austin Dillon on the pole and Ross Kenseth starting to his outside.

Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed won the ARCA Racing Series event at Chicagoland, which concluded just before the rains hit, and will start

When the race begins, six cars will go to the rear: No. 01 Ross Chastain, No. 52 Joey Gase and No. 79 Matt Frahm (unapproved adjustments), No. 22 Ryan Blaney (backup car), No. 0 Bobby Gerhart and No. 74 Mike Harmon (missed drivers’ meeting).
