CONCORD, NC– As the second round of  Chase for the Sprint Cup begins at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Bank of America 500, troubles too have begun for some of the heavy favorited Chase contenders.

None more notable than that of Penske Racing’s Joey Logano who made contact with the wall not once, but twice over the course of the event.

The second impact hurting the No.22 much more severely than the first. As his Ford Fusion made contact with the turn two wall on lap 155.

The winner of this event a year ago was puzzled as to why it happened not once, but twice.

“I don’t know. Tires kept popping. We’re not the only car that had the issue, but we’re the ones that hit the wall when it happens, so that’s not the best place to have them go down.”

Logano’s car was stout, being a top 5 car all afternoon but understood that some things are out of his control.

“We had a fast car. Our car was capable of winning the race. I don’t know, things happen. It’s part of racing I guess.”

His outlook on the next two races indicate that it is not yet time to panic.

“We’re not out by many means. We had a vert fast car. It’s part of racing, but we’re not out. We’re not going to die. This team is resilient, we’ve proved it before and we’ll just have to go out and prove it again. We just have to have two flawless races. It’s something we can make up.”
