April 29, 2014 — report by Managing Editor Jacob Seelman for Race Chaser Online — FRM photo — STATESVILLE, N.C. — Eric McClure has a second chance to make a good superspeedway impression.

McClure will return to the seat of the Front Row Motorsports No. 35 Ford for this weekend’s Aaron’s 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Talladega Superspeedway, the team officially announced today.

McClure, known for his veteran status in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, attempted to qualify for the Daytona 500 in February with the team, but was not able to qualify into the field. This time, however, he feels like the squad has a much better chance to show what they can do.

“I am very appreciative of the opportunity Bob (Jenkins) and Front Row Motorsports have given me to drive the No. 35 car at Talladega,” McClure expressed. “After having a fast car at Daytona (International Speedway in February), the disappointment of missing that race still lingers a bit for me. I am optimistic we can make the show at Talladega and have the chance to compete for a great finish.”

McClure has two Sprint Cup starts at Talladega, the first coming in 2004 and the most recent in 2006, but he also has seven Nationwide starts at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

Longtime McClure supporters Hefty Ultimate and Reynolds Wrap will be the primary sponsors for McClure’s Sprint Cup ride in the event.

The Aaron’s 499 goes green at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday at 1 PM Eastern, with live coverage on FOX and the Motor Racing Network.
