MOORESVILLE, N.C. – StarCom Racing officials announced Monday afternoon that Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series veteran Landon Cassill will drive the No. 00 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the next two races.

The 28-year-old from Cedar Rapids, Iowa will compete in both this weekend’s STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway and the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on April 8.

Martinsville will mark a return to the driver’s seat for Cassill, who was replaced by Michael McDowell at Front Row Motorsports during the offseason and has not yet competed in a NASCAR national series event this year.

“I love working with new teams. I feel like that is one of my strengths,” said Cassill in a statement. “StarCom Racing looks like they are in it for the long haul, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Cassill is an eight-year veteran of the Cup Series, having made 259 starts since 2010, and raced full-time at the sport’s top level each year from 2014 through 2017.

He drove for James Finch, Kevin Buckler, Larry Gunselman, BK Racing and Joe Falk before finding a long-term home at FRM, where he competed full-time for three straight years before being released at the end of the 2017 season.

To date, Cassill has one career top-10 finish at the Cup level, coming at Talladega Superspeedway in 2014 when he finished a career-best fourth while driving for Falk.

In addition, Cassill has 118 career starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and eight career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races to his name as well, with a combined two top-five and 15 top-10 finishes across those two divisions.

Cassill replaces Jeffrey Earnhardt, who agreed to mutually part ways with StarCom Racing following Sunday’s Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway.

The team also revealed in their Tweet that the United States First Responders Association USFRA.org – a 501c-3 professional and social network of firefighters, EMS, rescue, law enforcement, military and civilian support teams – will sponsor Cassill for both races.

StarCom Racing was privileged to acquire a new partnership with USFRA and Landon Cassill behind the wheel,” added team manager Derrike Cope in a statement. “I’m optimistic that his knowledge and experience will only help our efforts as well as the growth of our team.”
