April 22, 2014 — CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On last night’s post-Easter edition of Motorsports Madness, the crew returned full to the brim with candy and cheer to discuss the slightly-smaller, yet no less exciting slate of racing that took place from over the weekend across the country.
Speed77 Radio/Race Chaser Online co-hosts Jacob Seelman, Kyle Souza and Tom Baker talked up the PASS South Super Late Model Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory and heard from winners D.J. Shaw (Super Late Models) and Walker Yates (Pro Late Models) as well as looked at some of the young stars who turned a lot of heads during the Sunday afternoon event.
Open wheel correspondent Joel Sebastianelli discussed the Chinese Grand Prix from over the weekend in Shanghai and Lewis Hamilton’s continued destruction of the field, his first-ever streak of three straight Grand Prix wins, as well as previewed at IndyCar’s upcoming weekend in Barber. Sebastianelli also heralded the return of Jonathan Byrd’s Racing to the 2016 Indianapolis 500, announced earlier in the day.
And dirt track correspondent Steven Ovens and his crew from the Turn 5 Racing Podcast got down and dirty as they talked the World of Outlaws Texas Outlaw Nationals and broke down Donny Schatz and Daryn Pittman’s dominant victories. The pair also broke down the action from the season-opening event at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, and Baker and Seelman added their thoughts on Dave Darland’s Eldora USAC Sprint Car triumph.
The crew even took a look at the upcoming quartet of sprint car events in the Southeast this weekend, with the ASCS Carolina Sprint Series tackling the clay in Georgia and the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour filtercharged by K&N attacking the pavement in the Carolinas for the first time in four years.
