April 14, 2014 — Speed77 Radio/RaceChaser Online audio — CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Last night on Motorsports Madness, the crew reconvened at the Speed77 Roundtable to discuss all things motorsports and as per usual, things got a little wild but also became very candid, as NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie Ben Kennedy joined the crew of Motorsports Madness on Speed77 Radio powered by Race Chaser Online.
Speed77 Radio/Race Chaser Online co-hosts Jacob Seelman, Tom Baker and special guest co-host Steven Ovens spoke with Kennedy as he talked at length about his recent starts in the Camping World Truck Series and his strong run at his home track in Daytona, his family’s long history in NASCAR, what’s to come in his rookie campaign with Turner Scott Motorsports, and his work in the NASCAR Next program and K&N Pro Series East garage area.
The crew took a look at the rest of the weekend’s NASCAR action, from the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series from Darlington and Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott’s hard-fought victories to the WHELEN Southern Modified Tour from Langley, Virginia and George Brunnhoelzl’s triumph for the 21st time in Tour competition.
Open wheel expert Joel Sebastianelli rejoined the gang to break down the action from the Verizon IndyCar Series in Long Beach and Mike Conway’s impressive drive to victory, as well as the carnage that erupted late in the race with Ryan Hunter-Reay and Josef Newgarden’s contact in Turn 4. Joel also previewed this weekend’s Formula One Chinese Grand Prix and offered his thoughts on who might emerge victorious, as well as broke down Gene Haas’ now-approved bid to enter F1 and the two newest entries for the Indianapolis 500, being piloted by Townsend Bell and Buddy Lazier.
Ovens got into the mud and shook out the World of Outlaws Spring Break Tour from Kings Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway, with Baker and Seelman breaking down the weekend’s USCS vs. URC sprint car and AMA Supercross action as part of their look through the dirt track world, including an interview with first-time sprint car winner Lance Moss.
The crew even went through the sports car and NHRA activities of the weekend as the dragsters went Four-Wide in Charlotte and the TUDOR Championship invaded Long Beach, talking about the myriad of winners there as well as a part of their lightning-fast journey through the motorsports world!
