March 15, 2014 – Audio and report by Managing Editor Jacob Seelman for Speed77 Radio and Race Chaser Online – NEWTON, NC – It may not be the way he wanted to earn the pole, but Josh Berry will take it anyways.

Berry, driving the #88 SpeedCo Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, took the Bojangle’s Pole Award for Saturday night’s 50-lap main event with a quick time of 14.883 seconds after provisional polesitter Doug Barnes Jr. was disqualified following post-qualifying technical inspection for illegal screws.

“It’s not how you want to get the top spot, but you know, sometimes things happen,” Berry said after qualifying. “I’m really excited for tonight’s race; the car was fast in practice and with our teammate (William Byron) behind us, I’m predicting it’s going to be a strong night for this JRM team.”

Behind Berry, Landon Huffman qualified second, with former Legends car standouts Byron and Payton Ryan completing the top four on the grid for tonight’s 50-lap Late Model Stock Car feature.

A full program of action including Limited Late Models, Street Stocks and Super Trucks in addition to the LMSC class taks the green flag at 7 PM Eastern tonight at Hickory Motor Speedway.
