The No. 83 Hayes Jewelers/Sink Tower/Rahmoc Modified led all 100 laps on Saturday night to withstand the challenge from the No. 1 of Burt Myers, who finished second. John Smith rounded out the podium in third.

Danny Bohn qualified second, and as one of the top four qualifiers received the option to take the Colors Edge Challenge. The Challenge rewards drivers with a rolling sum of money if they qualify in the top four, choose to start in the rear, and then drive back up to finish in the top four. Bohn accepted the challenge and arrived in the top four on lap 54. There he would stay for the duration of the race and finish fourth. In the process, he earned an extra $3,000.

Jason Myers rounded out the top five.

The race was only marred by two notable incidents. The first occurred during the second caution. In a classic act of Bowman Gray Stadium displeasure, the No. 92 of Brody Jones drove back around the track to shove the No. 00 of Kevin Orlando all the way through turns 3 and 4. Jones pushed Orlando around the track while Orlando stood on his brakes, and eventually, Jones spun Orlando out as they returned to the front straight in a move that drew a raucous cheer from the fans in the stands.

The second came on lap 86, when Mike Bohn, Joseph “Bobo” Brown, and David Calabrese all spun in between turns 1 and 2 in front of the field. Though many drivers had to move quickly to avoid the spinners, everyone made it through the wreck cleanly.

The Brad’s Golf Carts Modified Series returns to action next Saturday night, June 6, with a pair of 25-lap races for the premier series at NASCAR’s oldest racetrack.
