WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Though it’s been his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano on top of the pylon for the last two NASCAR XFINITY Series races at Watkins Glen Int’l, Brad Keselowski reminded everyone Friday that he’s still as savvy a road warrior as they come.

Keselowski was the fast man in the first XFINITY practice session at the flowing 2.454-mile road course, piloting the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang to a best lap of 1 minute, 12.177 seconds (122.200 mph) during the one-hour block.

The 2012 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion is seeking his second-career XFINITY win at the Glen and first since 2013. He also hopes to extend a streak of five-straight Ford wins at the Glen in XFINITY competition.

Second on the board, and chasing his first-ever win in the Zippo 200, was all-time XFINITY wins leader Kyle Busch. The 2015 Cup champion took the No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota to a lap of 1:12.541 (121.586 mph) in practice.

Two-time defending WGI XFINITY winner Joey Logano was third on the board (1:12.592/121.501), ahead of fellow Cup stars Paul Menard and Kyle Larson.

Justin Allgaier was the fastest series regular in the first session, timing in sixth for JR Motorsports.

Erik Jones, Kevin Harvick, Cole Custer and Ty Dillon completed the top 10.

Points leader Elliott Sadler landed 13th-fastest, while three-time season William Byron was 18th overall.

Brandon Jones posted the best 10-lap average during the session, at a speed of 109.505 mph, while Spencer Gallagher went for a spin early on in practice.

Final practice for the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Watkins Glen Int’l kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET, with live broadcast coverage on the NBC Sports App.
