Kyle Busch and Alex Bowman came to the line side-by-side for second at the checkered flag, with Busch edging out the Arizona young gun by inches in the end.

Danica Patrick used a huge charge to come from 10th to fourth on the final lap, followed by Kevin Harvick.

Keselowski got back going to finish sixth, with Chase Elliott, rookie Daniel Suarez, Chris Buescher and Jamie McMurray.

After originally being scheduled to get underway on Saturday night, the exhibition event was postponed to Sunday morning due to rain that swept through the Daytona Beach area just before the scheduled race start.

But under the bright sunlight, a new story wrote itself as the first segment of the race was largely led by Keselowski, who paced 18 of the first 19 laps before an early caution slowed the pace.

At that point, Jimmie Johnson got sideways coming off the banking in turn four and made contact with Kurt Busch, sending Busch’s Ford hard into the outside wall and ending his run early.

The accident sent all the leaders down for service just before the end of segment one, with Kyle Busch winning the race off pit road as Keselowski incurred a penalty for driving through too many pit stalls.

Busch ultimately held the lead until moments before the segment break, when he led a train of a half dozen cars to pit road as the caution came out in a strategy play for track position.

While Busch was tagged for speeding, the shuffle left three JGR Toyotas — Hamlin, Matt Kenseth and Suarez — out in front as the race resumed on lap 30.

After taking the lead, Hamlin led 47 consecutive laps of the 75-lap event, amid two cautions that eliminated Johnson and Martin Truex Jr. from contention.

Johnson’s car stepped out off turn four and slammed the inside wall with 26 to go, while Truex came down across the nose of Kyle Larson in turn three and backed into the outside wall with 15 laps left, ending his afternoon.

That set up the race-ending restart with 11 to go, but it wasn’t until three laps remaining that Keselowski and Logano finally got hooked up, leading to the events on the final lap that shuffled the deck.

After spinning in turn two thanks to the contact with Keselowski, Hamlin finished the Clash in 13th.
